Week 4: 52 Week Creative Portraiture Photo Challenge

The Week 4 challenge was to convey the highs and lows of bipolar disorder. When I started out, I had absolutely no idea how I was going to do this, but my model Raela and I, came up with a concept, showing the juxtaposition between the high and the low using color, lighting and styling.

My model for this week, Raela Villanueva, is a mental health advocate and a well-known spokesperson for suicide prevention.

The lovely and talented Angelynn Krys (you might remember her from Week 1 of the photo challenge) of Arrow Salon and Spa, styled Raela's hair for the shoot. And Raela crafted the gorgeous wings herself (you can order one for yourself!).

I used a shiny black backdrop for the "lows" and white for the "highs."

Can you guess what I made the backdrop from? It's a very common household item.
